BAGAN 5:57 Holy Flowers, Amber & Olibanum
STORY: Still, the remnants of the night resist the coming of the day. Slowly, shades of gray transform into a vibrant display of colours—shades of oranges, reds, and blues. The voices of birds, surprised as if every day were their first, herald the approaching sun. From the morning's grey-blue mist slowly emerge the graceful silhouettes of temples, their sharp spires reaching towards the heavens. In the serene valley, undisturbed in its ZEN, flows the majestic Irrawaddy River.
The monotonous chants of monks waft above the rooftops of the monasteries, mingling with the scent of incense. The wind from the mountains disperses the last remnants of clouds and blends the myriad of aromas of this mystical valley, creating a mesmerising composition.
As the echo of mantras softly fades, the Sun begins its ascent. Groups of small figures donning saffron Kasayas set out on their daily procession to offer prayers and gifts.
At 5:57, BAGAN welcomes the sun.
